Medical staff at the Aga Khan Hospital for Women, Karimabad provide primary and secondary level care to mothers and children. The Hospital has established itself as a referral centre for high-risk patients. The medical team provides 24-hour care for routine, elective and emergency cases.

International Standards and Working Practices

The Hospital provides quality care benchmarked and measured against international standards. It maintains these standards rigorously by:

  • Conducting weekly medical education sessions;
  • Conducting quality improvement, mortality and morbidity reviews;
  • Performing regular internal and external clinical audits;
  • Maintaining infection protocols by using disposable needles, masks and ensuring blood transfusions;

  • Pre-screening of blood for Hepatitis B and Rubella;

ISO 9001: 2000

In 2004, the Hospital was awarded the ISO 9001: 2000 (International Standardisation Organisation) certificate. This certification is awarded only when a hospital's clinical, diagnostic, administrative and support services confirm to the ISO standards.

The Hospital has introduced Japanese management methodologies including Kaizen and Quality Control (QC). The team of consultants have developed specialised Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Paediatrics guidelines for better service delivery.
