The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam's Nursing and Midwifery Service is committed to providing care that is compassionate, safe and of quality standards that is focused on the unique needs of our patients and their families through a team of competent, qualified and ethical nursing professionals.

Nursing Staff

The Hospital has registered nurses, enrolled nurses, midwives and health care attendants. The Hospital has highly trained and experienced nurses, many of whom have been exposed and oriented to specific areas of focus including intensive care, accident and emergency, dialysis and laparoscopic surgery, paediatrics, cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, wound care management and neo-natal intensive care.

Professional Development

The Department of Nursing emphasizes developing and enhancing the skills of its nursing staff at all levels through a variety of programmes, including:

  • Post Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science (Nursing) programme;
  • Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Diploma Programme;
  • Skills upgrading in new clinical programmes;
  • Continuing Nursing Education (CNE), through professional development and other programmes;
  • Sponsorship of nurses to obtain Masters of Science (Nursing).
