Information for Nurses and Midwives

Nursing

The Hospital's Nursing and Midwifery Service is committed to providing effective and efficient care to meet the needs of its patients. The Service delivers a high standard of patient care that is intended to exceed expectations of patients, families and the local community. Nurses are trained on a regular basis to cope with technological advances and societal complexities.

Professional Development

Training of nurses is a regular and ongoing activity. The Hospital conducts an in-depth analysis to identify relevant, immediate and remote training needs required for its nurses.

The Hospital's Nursing Education Service works closely with ward-based clinical nurse instructors who are responsible for developing Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) modules. As part of the Hospital's Nursing Professional Development Programme, every nurse receives ongoing skills development beginning with a very thorough orientation programme and ongoing with courses in pathophysiology, dysrhythmia interpretation and critical care.

Besides training, the Service sponsors nurses for local and international postgraduate courses annually. Nurses also have the opportunity to pursue the Advanced Nursing Studies programme at the Aga Khan University School of Nursing.
